Salary: £70,000 – £80,000 per annum (full time)
Location: Wilson Carlile Centre, Sheffield (with nationwide travel and opportunities for home working)
Church Army was founded in 1882 and has been taking the Good News to people on the margins for over 140 years. The work we do has changed over the years, but our passion for sharing the Good News of Jesus and enabling transformation in lives and communities has never shifted.
This is an exciting time to join Church Army. Over the last 10 years we’ve been able to implement an ambitious strategy of growing our work across the UK and Ireland, funded from reserves and growth in investments. However, we’ve not given the same priority to growing our fundraised income. The Board has recognised the need to focus on and invest in driving the growth in fundraising to sustain financially the growth in our work and has now committed to a significant investment to deliver a step-change in fundraising income over the next three years.
Church Army are therefore seeking to appoint to a new role of Director of Fundraising and Communications. The primary purpose of the role will be to direct the fundraising and communications strategy to ensure it delivers the ambitious income targets agreed by the Board to move the organisation towards financial sustainability by 2026. This will involve a significant step-change in the scale and range of fundraising and communications activities and investment in the resources to deliver this, which has the full commitment of the SLT and Board.
The ideal candidate for the role will be an excellent communicator, who can inspire audiences and share the work of Church Army in an engaging and relevant way. Your personal Christian faith (of any denomination) will be at the heart of this.
We are seeking applications from individuals who are skilled in the development and implementation of national fundraising strategy, and will be able to evidence prior experience of delivering new donor acquisition campaigns at scale. You will have a strong track record of delivering against fundraising targets, and will have appropriate leadership skills to support the achievement of this.
We anticipate that the successful applicant will have knowledge of digital marketing techniques, and knowledge of key legal frameworks regarding fundraising practices, potentially gained from a relevant degree-level qualification.
Queries and expressions of interest are invited to our recruitment partners, Action Planning, by emailing Hayley McDonald on hayley.mcdonald@actionplanning.co.uk. A recruitment pack is available for the role, and all prospective applicants are recommended to request and review this prior to application.
Please note that the closing date for applications will be Monday 6th March 2023.
