The Times 2019 Christmas Appeal opens for applications

Charities can now apply to be part of The Times’ 2019 Christmas Appeal. The successful applicants will be featured in articles running in the paper throughout the appeal, which runs over the Christmas period.

This year, The Times is particularly interested in hearing from smaller charities and those tackling issues and societal challenges that have been in the news recently. However, any charitable organisation of any size may apply, with three or four likely to be chosen.

In 2018 The Times featured four charities: Mercy Corps, St Mungo’s, Cyrenians, and Surfers Against Sewage.

Applications need to include a short summary of the work of your charity and ideas or suggestions for between eight and ten stories to highlight different aspects of what your charity does, with a focus on who benefits. They are looking for powerful human interest stories.

They would also like to hear brief ideas for how your charity could work with The Times’ multimedia team to create a short video explaining the charity’s work. This would be shared on The Times digital editions throughout the appeal.

Send applications by mail to Craig Tregurtha, Managing Editor, The Times, The News Building, 1 London Bridge Street, London SE1 9GF.
Or by email to charityappeal@thetimes.co.uk
The decision should be announced by mid-October.

Deadline for applications is Monday 16 September.
