Volunteer Trustee/Treasurer, Marfan Trust
Are you a chartered accountant with charity experience looking for a way to give back in a meaningful but manageable way?
Marfan Trust, a small UK-based medical charity, is seeking a dedicated voluntary trustee to help us continue our work supporting over 3,700 families affected by Marfan syndrome – a rare inherited heart and connective tissue condition. This is an opportunity to use your skills to truly make a difference in people’s lives.
As Treasurer, your commitment would average around 15 hours per month. This includes attending quarterly remote board meetings (1.5 hours each), authorising payments, and liaising with a range of stakeholders such as our accountant, staff, auditors, investment advisor, and fundraisers. You’ll also play a key role in interpreting and explaining financial reports, forecasts, and goals to fellow trustees, ensuring sound financial governance and strategy.
This role offers the satisfaction of contributing to life-changing research, support services, and public education – all while working flexibly from home. It's ideally suited to a semi-retired or retired chartered accountant with an interest in heart or eye health, who’s ready for a new challenge that brings purpose without overloading your schedule. Join us in improving the length and quality of life for those affected by Marfan syndrome.
