Funding up to £250,000 for museums and galleries

The Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund, which awards £1.25million per year to projects that demonstrate the inspiring social impact of museum collections, is offering grants worth up to £250,000 to support the development of existing collections, typically held by an accredited museum or partnership of museums and other organisations.

The Fund is offering two types of grant:

  • Collections Innovation and Engagement Grants - £20,000-£90,000 for up to three years to fund outstanding ideas with a strong level of ambition, social impact, innovation or risk taking.
  • Collections Strategy and Development Grants - £90,000-£250,000 for up to five years for projects that use collections to make a difference to people’s lives and to contribute significantly to the long-term strategy or vision of the organisation or partnership.

All the funded work must engage and involve audiences to achieve public benefit.

Deadlines for expression of interest are:

  • Collections Innovation and Engagement Grants – 16th March
  • Collections Strategy and Development Grants – 11th May
