Government puts up £30m for 5G projects
The Government’s pledge to roll out 5G to the UK’s rural communities has been backed up by a £30million prize fund. Up to 10 5g research and development projects will be chosen for funding over the next two years.
The Rural Connected Communities (RCC) competition is open to consortia from across the UK, including third sector organisations.
The winning organisations will represent locations around the UK and will be expected to run trials of 5G applications and stimulate commercial investment in 5G technology. The aim of the RCC competition is to ‘spark a tech revolution in countryside communities and help rural Britain seize the opportunities of 5G technology’.
A briefing event will take place in Leeds on 12th September. The deadline for entries is midday on Friday 25th October.
