New grant fund for community projects across the South

A grant fund worth £60,000 has been made available to charities across the South of England to support community projects.

The Community Asset Fund has been set up by not-for-profit online matching platform The Good Exchange in partnership with housing association Sovereign. It is open to applicants from Hampshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Dorset, Devon, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and the Isle of Wight, located within a three-mile radius of the areas where Sovereign has homes.

Grants can be used towards salaries or core funding and for equipment to serve community facilities such as laptops, repairs etc. Larger grants will also be awarded for projects such as capital refurbishment, extensions of community facilities or revenue towards staffing etc. Community events, such carnivals and festivals, will also be considered.

Applicants may also benefit from being paired with other charitable givers, helping to secure further match funding via The Good Exchange platform.

Applications up to £500 will be awarded as straightforward grants, whereas larger applications will require 50% match funding.

The funds will be granted in two rounds of £30,000 each, with the first round of applications closing on Monday 30th September and the second closing at the end of January 2020.

The grant will be awarded 80% up front and 20% on completion of an impact report, which all successful applicants will be required to complete.
